ADMISSION PROCEDURES East Boston Central Catholic School conducts registration for the next school year during the month of January.  Registration is conducted for present school families on the Thursday afternoon during the 3rd week of January from 1:00 to 6:00 and for new school families 9:00 - 12:00 and 3:00 - 7:00 on the Thursday of the 4th week in January.  A $35 registration fee is obtained on the day of registration.  Individual testing for incoming students will be arranged following the registration.  Follow the following link for the most current registration and tuition costs:                          REGISTRATION ENROLLMENT INFORMATION Grades Pre-Kindergarten (K1), Kindergarten, through grade 8. K1 students must be 4 years old on or before  September 1st; those entering K2 must be 5 years old on or before September 1st. Applications may be accepted for students whose age is close to the deadline date, the student will be screened and placed on a probationary term/contract for admittance.  Cases will be reviewed on an individual basis. Brochures and parent tours can be given upon request. SCHOOL HOURS All Grades:            8:10 - 2:20 EXTENDED DAY East Boston Central Catholic's Extended Day Program is open Monday through Friday when school is in session and provides after school care for EBCCS students in all grades.  The program is not offered on school holidays. 2:20 Dismissal Rates:                     Noon Dismissal Rates: $10 a day per child                            $15 a day per child $15 a day per  two children              $20 a day per  two children $20 a day per 3+ children                $25 a day per 3+ children	GENERAL INFORMATION FINANCIAL AID Financial aid is made available each year for families who qualify. This aid is meant to help defray tuition costs for families whose financial circumstances make it impossible for them to meet the full tuition fee charged. ELIGIBILITY All East Boston Central Catholic School families may apply for financial assistance. Financial need must be clearly demonstrated by filling out the request for financial aid form that is available. Financial aid applications are available each year during the month of September.  The Financial Aid is administered through the FACTS Program. BUS SERVICE Students who live in East Boston and are more than 2.5 miles from the school are entitled to the Boston Public School bus transportation to and from school each day. Parents interested in this service should request a bus transportation form from the school office. DIRECTIONS From the North:  US Rt. 1 South / Take the Carter Street Exit toward Chelsea - E. MISSION STATEMENT   East Boston Central Catholic School is committed to strong basic skills development within a solid Christian Framework.  The curriculum at all times is geared to foster the growth of individual self-worth;  to develop a love and commitment to our faith;  to encourage knowledge and pride in one’s heritage;  to develop an appreciation and respect for cultural diversities; and to develop a commitment of service to others.	HISTORY In the spring of 1892 a new school was dedicated on the property of the Most Holy Redeemer Parish.  The new school was appropriately named in honor of  Father James Fitton.  Father Fitton, the pastor of Most Holy Redeemer during the mid-1800’s, was a man who truly believed in evangelization through Catholic schools.  Thus, in 1892 in memory of his strong commitment to quality Catholic education the Fitton School building was dedicated.  Today over 100 years later the Fitton building still serves the educational needs of our  community as the collaborative school East Boston Central Catholic. Father Fitton’s goal of excellence in Catholic education not only continues, but has grown far beyond the boundaries of his parish. East Boston Central Catholic School was established in September of 1974 as a multi-parish, collaborative elementary school serving Our Lady of the Assumption, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Most Holy Redeemer and Sacred Heart Parishes.  Nowhere else in the Archdiocese of Boston is there currently an elementary parochial school that is jointly sponsored by several parishes and governed by a school board representing all the “stockholders”.  East Boston Central Catholic’s merger marked the first successful school collaboration that has withstood the test of time. The building, although over 100 years old, is in exceptional condition.   The following major renovations and projects have been accomplished over the years through fund raising efforts and grants: Top floor auditorium – complete restoration  New roof and pointing of the entire building  New bathrooms and cafeteria  Renovated Science Lab   State of the Art Technology  Complete Internet Wiring and Access   Computers in every classroom and a Computer Lab  Upgraded electrical wiring throughout the building
PHILOSOPHY East Boston Central Catholic School rests on a foundation of Christian beliefs.  The philosophy of the school reflects the values and ideals of all those who have a vital part in the growth, development, and life of the school.  The effectiveness of its philosophy is measured by the attitudes, behavior, and daily living of the students, parents, and faculty who have assimilated it.  The philosophy of the school stresses the need for “community among people” as a basic strategy for students and faculty to value in coping with the perplexities and decisions of an ever-changing society. Therefore, the staff commits itself to implement, uphold, and support the guidelines on Christian education in its three-fold purpose as set down by the Bishops’ Pastoral Message on Catholic schools.  Specifically the staff strives:   to integrate the Gospel message with the rest of learning and living; to provide a contemporary understanding and experience of Christian community that will enable students to address with sensitivity the multiple problems which face individuals and society today; to foster and encourage in students an orientation toward Christian values by helping them acquire the skills, virtues, and habits of heart and mind required for effective service to themselves and others.  In light of this three-fold mission, all those involved in the school (students, teachers, staff, parents, clergy, and administration) are encouraged to work earnestly to make the school a community of faith that is indeed “living, conscious, and active.
